In November 2007, a local woman contacted me about Peter, her seven
year old grandson from Texas. Peter had a rare brain tumor, and he
and his family had recently been told that treatments would not work.
At this point, they stopped all treatments and turned their focus
to spending time doing wonderful things as a family. Peter had a long
stated dream to ride down an avalanche atop a polar bear. While this
is not an experience we could provide, Peter’s grandmother thought
skiing down a mountain would be the closest substitute. While normally
Peter and his family would be invited to our Spring Fling event, his
doctors were not optimistic that he would be with us in late March.
The Eagle Ski staff and Big Sky Resort immediately jumped on board
to provide an incredible day of skiing for Peter and his family on
New Year’s Eve. This proved to be an absolutely amazing day
for Peter, his sister, two brothers, mom, and dad, as well as all
the volunteers and staff that helped make it happen. I know it is
a day that I will never forget. Peter passed away March 11, 2008,
but the memories and smiles made that day will stay with all of us
forever. Watch

A family from Ohio visited during the winter of 2007 to ski at
Big Sky. Meredith skied with one of the children and invited them
to come back in the summer. They did, and when the child arrived at
Eagle Mount, she came running out of the car yelling, "Meredith,
Meredith!" She was so excited to not only see the friend she
made skiing, but also to go horseback riding. An absolutely precious
child and precious moment. What a great opportunity to meet the family
of the child and see the wonderful positive impact Eagle Mount has
on their lives.
